Messaging & Encryption Notice
Last updated: May 6, 2026

This notice explains how messaging and encryption work on Role Play World.

1. Messaging features

Role Play World supports direct messages, group chats, public chat, media messages, GIFs, message reactions, read status, delivery status, archived conversations, pinned conversations, group nicknames, group invites, and conversation controls.

Messages must follow the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Safety & Moderation rules, and applicable law.

2. Direct messages

Direct messages are conversations between two users. Direct chats may support end-to-end encryption when both users have enabled encryption and the conversation is turned on for encryption.

If encryption is not enabled, direct messages are stored and processed like standard service content so the app can deliver, display, sync, moderate, support, and protect the service.

3. Group chats

Group chats are not treated as end-to-end encrypted.

Group chat messages, member lists, invites, nicknames, system messages, media, timestamps, reactions, read status, delivery status, and moderation records may be stored and processed by Role Play World.

4. Public chat

Public chat is not end-to-end encrypted.

Public chat messages may be visible to other users and may be moderated, stored, displayed, broadcast, restricted, or removed according to platform rules.

5. End-to-end encryption

When end-to-end encryption is enabled for a direct conversation, message content may be encrypted before it is sent and stored in encrypted form.

Both users must have encryption set up before encrypted messages can be sent. If either user has not completed setup, encrypted messaging may not be available.

Encryption settings may apply only to new messages after encryption is enabled. Older messages may remain in the format they were originally sent.

6. What encryption does not hide

Even when message content is encrypted, Role Play World may still store or process message metadata and service records, including:

- Sender and recipient.
- Conversation ID.
- Message ID.
- Timestamps.
- Delivery and read status.
- Attachment or media references.
- Public key snapshots and encryption metadata.
- Reports and moderation records.
- Device, session, IP, and account safety signals.
- Notification and unread-count data.

This metadata is needed to operate messaging, deliver notifications, sync conversations, investigate abuse, prevent spam, and maintain security.

7. Media and GIFs

Images, videos, GIF URLs, and other media may be uploaded, stored, processed, transcoded, moderated, or displayed by the service.

Encrypted message text does not necessarily mean every attachment, preview, notification, or related metadata is hidden.

8. Moderation and reports

Messages may be reported. When a message or conversation is reported, Role Play World may review available content, metadata, account history, safety signals, moderation results, and related records.

Encrypted content may limit what Role Play World can review directly, but metadata, reports, user accounts, and safety signals may still be used for enforcement.

9. Notifications

Message notifications may include limited preview information depending on device settings, app settings, platform behavior, and notification preferences.

To protect privacy, avoid sending sensitive information through messages if notification previews are enabled on your device.

10. Your responsibilities

Do not use messaging to harass, threaten, exploit, scam, spam, impersonate, evade bans, share illegal content, or violate someone’s privacy.

Do not assume messages are completely private, permanent, or impossible for recipients to copy. Other users may screenshot, save, forward, or disclose messages they can access.

11. Account and device security

Encrypted messaging depends partly on your device and account security. Keep your login, device, PIN, recovery key, and private key secure.

If you lose access to your device, private key, PIN, or recovery setup, some encrypted message access may be limited or unavailable.

12. Changes

Messaging and encryption features may change as Role Play World improves security, adds features, fixes issues, or responds to safety risks. Continued use of messaging means you accept the current behavior of the feature.
