letter #6: to the one who forgot their worth

dear you,

uhm somewhere along the way, you stopped seeing yourself the way you once did. maybe it happened after being disappointed too many times. maybe it was after loving people who only knew how to take from you. maybe it was after hearing words that slowly became the voice inside your head. whatever the reason, you began to believe that you were less than who you truly are.

you started apologizing for things that didn't need apologies. you made yourself smaller so others could feel bigger. you accepted the bare minimum because you convinced yourself it was all you deserved. you gave chance after chance to people who kept proving they didn't value you, hoping that if you loved them enough, they would finally choose you.

but they didn't.

and little by little, every rejection, every broken promise, every unanswered effort became another reason for you to question your worth. what hurts the most is that you didn't lose your worth. you only lost sight of it.

your value was never determined by who stayed, who left, who loved you, or who failed to. it was never found in someone else's ability to see your beauty, your kindness, or your heart. because the truth is, some people can stand in front of a diamond and still mistake it for a stone. their inability to recognize your worth does not make you worthless.

i know you've spent nights wondering why you weren't enough. why they chose someone else. why your efforts weren't appreciated. why your love wasn't returned the way you gave it. but not every ending is proof that you lacked something.

sometimes people leave because they cannot appreciate what they have. sometimes they take good hearts for granted. sometimes they are fighting battles you know nothing about. and sometimes, no explanation will ever feel satisfying enough.

you cannot keep measuring your value through the eyes of people who never truly saw you. look at everything you've survived. look at the days you thought would destroy you but didn't. look at the way you continued to care even after being hurt. look at the way your heart still chooses kindness despite everything it has been through. that is not weakness. that is strength.

you have spent so much time chasing validation from others that you've forgotten to give it to yourself. you've been waiting for someone to tell you that you're enough, worthy, lovable, and important.

so let this letter be the reminder you've been waiting for:

you are not hard to love.

you are not too much.

you are not a burden.

you are not defined by who failed to choose you.

and you do not have to earn your worth. it has been within you all along.

so please, stop looking for your value in the hands of people who cannot hold it. stop searching for your reflection in places that only distort it. come back to yourself.

the version of you who knew their worth is still there, waiting patiently beneath the self-doubt, the heartbreak, and the fear. and when you find them again, i hope you never allow anyone to make you forget how valuable you truly are.

with love,
🐰🤍
