Chapter 6
Blending Emotions
The studio was bathed in soft light streaming through the tall windows, dust motes dancing in its path. Cael watched Lorenzo as he posed, his heart fluttering in his chest. He had never felt so seen, so understood.
"Now, don't go stiff on me," Cael teased, dipping his brush into a shade of umber. "I want to capture your passion for art, not just your likeness."
Lorenzo smiled, his body relaxing into the pose. "Yes, Chef," he quipped.
Cael laughed, the sound echoing around the studio. "That's better," he said, returning to his painting.
As the hours passed, they fell into an easy rhythm. Cael would pause occasionally to study Lorenzo's features, tilting his head slightly as he did so. Lorenzo would watch him back, a soft smile playing on his lips.
"You know," Lorenzo said, breaking the silence, "I've been thinking. About us."
Cael's heart leapt into his throat. "Yes?" he managed to say.
"Well, I'd like for there to be more of us. If you want it too."
Cael put down his paintbrush, standing up on shaky legs. "I want that more than anything," he whispered.
