Words Betray Meaning
She was so strong that no one could ever break. A woman whose foundation is herself — cold, smart and always ten times ahead, meet a charismatic, logical and impossible to outsmart guy she never imagined.
When people around them find them "perfect imperfect couple" which they were trapped in a wit of game, pride & calling found themselves in a match made in heaven.
Not every puzzle is meant to be solved. They are meant to fall in love.
Chapter 7: The 5'11 Silhouette
REESE'S POV
As I walked out onto the operations floor, a familiar face immediately caught my eye. He stood around 5'11, wearing an impeccably tailored corporate suit and a pair of eyeglasses that made him look devastatingly hot.
He adjusted his stance and walked straight toward me. "It's nice meeting you again, Miss Reese," he said, his voice smooth and measured.
I blinked, completely unsure of what he was talking about. Noticing my blank facial expression, a soft, amused smile played on his lips as he jokingly added, "Well, I've seen you multiple times around here. I was advised that there’s a new team leader the Training Team is highly looking forward to working with. On behalf of the Training Director, it’s my pleasure to finally meet you."
The pieces finally fell into place, explaining why I couldn't place him at first. He had been the trainer assigned to my team back then, but corporate restructuring quickly moved him to another department. Our past interactions had been completely swallowed by heavy workloads.
Thanking him, I politely bid my goodbye. I needed to head straight down to IT Services to fix my locked-out credentials. I knew filing a ticket online would take ages; visiting the tech team in person was the only way to get things done today.
THIRD PARTY'S POV
I remembered her from a few past meetings, though we had never shared a casual conversation. I wasn't entirely sure what brought her back to this floor, but a quiet part of me hoped she was here for good.
Earlier, I had spotted her standing outside with the Senior Operations Manager, deeply engrossed in a private conversation I couldn't quite decipher. Well, it wasn't my business, and I told myself I was cool with it.
Nobody here knew my secret anyway—that I was an internal transfer from IT Services who had quietly shifted into the Training Team.
I had only stepped out to scan the operations floor and see if anyone required my assistance. To my surprise, I crossed paths with her again.
I wasn't the only one watching.
A collective shift in energy rippled through the floor as a striking woman stepped out of the Boardroom.
She wasn't an executive.
She wasn't part of the senior leadership team.
Just a woman—an incredibly beautiful, fashionable woman whose effortless style commanded the entire room.
I have to admit, I felt a sudden pang of intimidation.
"Who is she?" I asked one of the nearby associates, keeping my voice low.
"That's Ms. Reese, our new Team Leader," the associate whispered back.
"You actually met her briefly before, though I'm not sure if you got the chance to talk"
That explained the nagging sense of familiarity.
Still, a bitter thought crossed my mind—it seemed a bit too early for her to be dating anyone in the office. I immediately checked myself. I shouldn't judge someone based entirely on a passing glance; there was undoubtedly a story behind it.
Steeling my composure, I walked straight toward her to initiate a little small talk. But before the conversation could deepen, she politely excused herself, mentioning she needed an IT personnel to fix her locked credentials.
I desperately wanted to volunteer and fix it for her right then and there, but a heavy presence materialized behind me.
"You're late," a voice murmured, followed by a sharp, knowing smirk.
I didn't turn around, keeping my gaze ahead.
"I'm always on time," I shot back defensively.
