She was so strong that no one could ever break. A woman whose foundation is herself — cold, smart and always ten times ahead, meet a charismatic, logical and impossible to outsmart guy she never imagined.  When people around them find them "perfect imperfect couple" which they were trapped in a wit of game, pride & calling found themselves in a match made in heaven. Not every puzzle is meant to be solved. They are meant to fall in love.

One seat, Two Monsters

Congratulations, and welcome to SIT Corp., Ms. Reese," the woman greeted with a warm smile.

"Our Program Manager wanted to welcome you personally. It's not something he usually does, so... I'd say you're quite special to the company."

Judging by her appearance, she was probably in her late thirties or early forties. The sincerity in her voice made it clear she wasn't exaggerating.

So... that jerk didn't get the job?

Did he back out because he'd be too embarrassed knowing someone with less experience got hired over him?

Wait... if I remember correctly...

Matthew Alarcon.

Hmph.

His profile is private.

Makes sense. He probably values his privacy.

Or maybe... he's not even that handsome.

I froze. @_@

The jerk I'd been stalking online was standing right in front of me.

He smiled.

What a loser.

Imagine smiling at the person who got the position you wanted. Either he was taking the rejection surprisingly well... or he'd already lost his mind.

He leaned closer, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Don't celebrate too early. You never know how fate likes to play its games."

He took a step back before adding,

"See you around, Ms. Sanchez."

I met his gaze without flinching.

I leaned just enough for him to hear.

"You know... you're not bad-looking. You dress well, too." I paused, letting the silence linger.

"If you're that interested in me, just say so. Maybe I'll be nice enough to let you work under my supervision.

A smirk tugged at my lips.

After all...

I was the one who got the job.

After a month....

Matthew Alarcon disappeared as if he'd never existed.

What a waste of talent.

Still, I refused to get comfortable.

The corporate world has taught me one thing:

A position isn't permanent. The moment you become complacent, someone else is already preparing to take your seat.
