letter #8 : to the one who is healing in silence
dear you,
i know no one applauds the kind of healing you're doing.
no one sees the nights you almost gave up, the tears you wiped away before anyone could ask if you were okay, or the mornings you forced yourself out of bed even when your heart still carried yesterday's weight. to everyone else, it looks like you're simply living. but only you know how much strength it takes just to make it through another day.
healing has never been loud. sometimes it looks like choosing not to send the message. sometimes it means finally letting go of someone who still lives in your memories. sometimes it's learning to smile again without feeling guilty, or allowing yourself to laugh after believing you never would. these victories are quiet, but they are victories nonetheless.
there will be days when it feels like you've made no progress at all. old wounds may ache again, familiar memories may visit without warning, and you'll wonder if you're moving backward. you're not. healing isn't a straight road. it's a journey filled with pauses, detours, and moments where you simply need to rest. none of those erase how far you've already come.
please don't rush yourself just because the world tells you that you should be "over it" by now. your heart doesn't heal on anyone else's timeline. every scar has its own story, and every story deserves the time it needs to become something that no longer hurts to remember.
one day, you'll notice that the things which once shattered you no longer have the same power. you'll speak about your past without your voice trembling. you'll look in the mirror and see someone who survived what they once believed would destroy them.
until that day comes, be gentle with yourself.
you are not behind.
you are not weak.
you are simply becoming someone who chose to heal instead of harden.
and that is one of the bravest things a person can ever do.
with love,
🐰🤍
