Between Every Word

Every message you sent carried a little piece of you. Somewhere along the way, I realized I had fallen in love with every single one.

Chapter 1

It's strange how someone I've never truly met can still feel so familiar. I don't know the sound of your footsteps. I don't know what your laugh actually sounds like outside the little descriptions you give me. I don't know how warm your hand would feel if I ever got the chance to hold it. And yet... somehow, I know you. I know the way your words soften whenever you're worried about someone. I know how your messages become a little longer when you're excited, and how they become shorter whenever something is quietly bothering you. I know when you're smiling, because somehow your messages smile with you. It's funny how I've learned all of these things without ever hearing your voice in person.

People say you can't truly know someone through text. I think they're wrong. Maybe they've never met someone whose presence could travel through a screen so effortlessly. Somewhere between your good mornings, your random thoughts, the conversations that somehow lasted until neither of us noticed how late it had become, and all the little moments we never planned to create, I found someone worth loving. I never fell for a face on my screen. I fell for the soul behind every sentence you wrote.

And maybe that's the most beautiful thing about meeting you here. We exist in a world built entirely on words, yet you've never once felt distant to me. Every conversation somehow makes the space between us disappear. I don't need to hear your voice to know when you're happy. I don't need to see your expression to know when you're tired. Somewhere along the way, I learned the rhythm of your typing, the kindness hidden between your words, and the quiet comfort that always seems to find me whenever your name appears on my screen.

So if anyone ever asks me how I fell in love with someone I've never truly met, I don't think I'd struggle to answer. Because I didn't fall in love with what I could see. I fell in love with the person I found between every word you chose to send me. And in a world where everything begins and ends with letters on a screen, your words have quietly become my favorite place to stay.

I love you, Hilmy.
