Huling Pagkakataon is a bittersweet story about Leo meeting his ex-girlfriend, Maya, after two years of silence. Hoping to win her back, he learns she has already moved on, realizing their final meeting was meant for closure and forgiveness rather than a second chance.

Chapter 1

Matagal nang tapos ang kwento namin, pero hindi ko pa rin mapigilang lumingon sa nakaraan.

It was a rainy Friday afternoon nang nag-reply siya sa message ko. Three simple words: "Sige, mag-usap tayo." After two years of total silence, I was finally getting my chance. A chance to say sorry, to explain, and maybe—just maybe—to ask for a second try.

Nagkita kami sa maliit na cafe sa Quezon City kung saan kami madalas tumambay noon. When she walked in, the room felt smaller. She looked different. Her hair was shorter, her smile was a bit more reserved, but her presence still had that same calm effect on me.

"Kumusta ka na?" tanong niya habang nagtitimpla ng kape.

"I'm managing," sagot ko. "Ikaw?"
"Okay naman. Busy sa work, but I'm happy."

Hearing those words—I'm happy—felt like a bitter medicine. I took a deep breath and decided not to waste this final moment. "Look, Maya, I asked to see you because I wanted to say I'm sorry. I was immature. I ran away when things got tough, and I hurt you deeply. I regret it every single day."

Maya looked at me silently. Her expression wasn't angry anymore, which somehow hurt even more. It meant the wound had already turned into a scar.

"Thank you for saying that, Leo," she said softly. "Inasahan ko 'yung apology na 'yan noon, but it never came.

" I used to cry every night asking why you left so easily."

"I know, and I hate myself for it. Maya, if you'll let me, gusto kong bumawi. Can we try again?"

She smiled, a gentle and bittersweet smile, and reached across the table to pat my hand. "Leo, I forgive you. Truly. Pero late na, eh. I’ve already rebuilt my life without you, and I’m okay now. I didn't come here to start over. I came here to officially say goodbye."

That was the moment I realized that Huling Pagkakataon doesn't always mean a chance to fix the relationship. Sometimes, it's just the final chance to find peace and let go.

"I understand," I whispered. "Thank you for giving me this closure."
We walked out of the cafe together, opened our umbrellas, and went our separate ways—this time, with no regrets left behind.
