letter #10: to the one who's still here
dear you,
if no one has told you this lately, i'm glad you're still here.
i know those words may seem small compared to everything you've been carrying, but they're true. because there were moments when you weren't sure you could keep going. moments when your heart felt too heavy, your thoughts too loud, and the future too far away to imagine. yet somehow, through all the pain, you stayed.
maybe no one noticed how hard you fought. maybe they only saw your smile and never the tears you hid behind closed doors. maybe they assumed you were okay because you kept showing up, never realizing that every single day felt like climbing a mountain with tired legs and a broken heart. but i see your courage.
sometimes surviving doesn't look inspiring. sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when you don't want to. replying to a message after days of silence. eating something even when your appetite disappeared. choosing to stay when every part of you wanted to disappear. those quiet choices matter more than you think.
if today is hard, you don't have to pretend it isn't. you don't have to carry everything with a smile just to make other people comfortable. let yourself breathe. let yourself rest. healing doesn't ask you to be strong every second of the day.
there will come a time when you'll look back at this chapter of your life and realize that the person you were becoming was born in these difficult moments. not because pain made you better, but because you refused to let it have the final word.
so if all you've managed to do today is stay, then let that be enough.
you are not "just surviving." you are choosing tomorrow, even when today has given you every reason to quit. and that choice, made over and over again is a quiet kind of bravery that deserves to be honored.
thank you for staying. the world is different because you're still in it. labyah mwa
with love,
