Chapter 1

:

"You know we can't be together, Aye."

I looked at him...almost pleadingly.

"But I love you...I love you so much, Angelo..."

My tears started to fall.

He looked away.

I reach his hand with my trembling one.

"P-Please...choose me..."

He looked at me with empathy.

"You know I can't, Aye."

He pulled his hand away from me.

I'm losing him...even he wasn't even mine.

"I'm a priest, Aye. How could you fall for me?"

"I don't know!"

I push my hair backwards frustratedly.

"Can't you choose me? J-Just this once, Gelo...please.."

I look at my feet.

"W-Why can't you choose me? W-We both grow up from the same neighborhood...we are childhood... friends.."

A sob escaped.

"W-Why not me, Gelo?"

I slowly lift my gaze to him.

"Because I can't...and I'm already committed to God, Aye. I'm already married to God."

I cover my face with my hands while crying.

"B-Bakit..."

My voice cracks.

"A-Anong laban k-ko?"

Rinig ko ang bawat paggaralgal ng boses ko.

"Paano ako lalaban? P-Paano kita ipaglalaban kung Diyos na ang kalaban..."

Nanghina ang mga tuhod ko kaya napa-upo ako pero agad niya akong nasalo.

"Aye..."
*****

Angelo's Pov.

It hurts seeing her like this. Hurting. Broken.

I slowly wiped her tears away with my thumb.

I feel the same way. "You can find someone," I love you, too. "Who can love you better, Aye." More than you know.

I carefully remove the hair strands covering her face.

"Shh..." It hurts seeing you like this. "Tahan na..." Hurting because of me.

"A-Anong magagawa ko?"

Her voice cracked and it shattered me.

"A-Anong laban ko? Hindi pa nga ako nag-uumpisa alam kong talo na ako."

She smiled bitterly.

She looked up and met my gaze.

"I'll support you, Gelo..."

She sigh. My heart's breaking.

"Kaya siguro Angelo ang pangalan mo dahil nakatakda ka dito."

Alam kong hindi tayo ang para sa isa't isa kaya mas pinili kong ibigay ang buong ako sa Diyos, Aye.

I just nodded.

"Maybe this is what I am destined for."

I smiled at her.

I was stunned when she hugged me.

"I-I love you...Father."
*****
10 years later.

I saw her entering the large door of the church. I smiled, she's so gorgeous with her white wedding gown.

I watch her slowly walking in the aisle with her parents by each of her sides.

My tears fell on my left eye and I immediately wiped it.

I can't believe this...I can't believe I will be witnessing her walking at the aisle like that. She's a masterpiece, the most beautiful bride I've ever witness in my whole life.

Her eyes were happy, she's glowing, her smiles are more brighter.

Our eyes met, I smiled, she smiled, too.

Until the wedding started.

I watch her taking her soon-to-be-her-husband's hand.

I started their wedding.

She's happy, this is the best decision. Witnessing her happiness is enough.

This is enough.

I love her so much.

I'm the priest of my love wedding day.
