Chapter 1

The rain poured relentlessly as the last train pulled away, leaving you stranded at the nearly empty station. You hugged your jacket tighter, trying to ignore the cold, when a familiar voice called your name.

"You'll catch a cold if you stay here."

You turned to see dmitri standing under a black umbrella, his hair slightly damp from the rain. The two of you hadn't spoken in months after a misunderstanding neither of you had been brave enough to fix.

"I didn't expect to see you," you murmured.

"I almost drove past," he admitted with a small smile. "But somehow... I couldn't."

Silence settled between you, filled only by the sound of rain hitting the pavement. He stepped closer, tilting the umbrella so it covered both of you. Your shoulders brushed, and your heart raced despite your efforts to stay calm.

"I heard you're moving away," he said quietly.

You nodded.

"Then let me be honest before it's too late." He took a deep breath. "I've liked you for a long time. I thought staying away would make those feelings disappear, but it only made me miss you more."

Your eyes widened. Every emotion you had buried suddenly resurfaced.

"I thought you hated me," you whispered.

"I never did."

For the first time in months, the distance between you disappeared—not because the rain had stopped, but because neither of you wanted to walk away
