Episode 2
Rules of the Dream
They learned the lighthouse like kids learn a new school.
The water never got closer.
The stairs went up further than the building should allow. And the railing — no matter how many times Callum reached for it, his hand always slowed right before contact, like the dream itself refused to let him hold on to anything real.
One night, he drew a constellation in the dust.
Seven stars from his own sky, ones he could've pointed to blind.
Iris stared at it like a word in a language she almost understood.
"I don't have that one," she said quietly. "Not there."
"Maybe you're not looking right."
"Maybe."
She didn't sound like she believed it.
They went back to arguing about kickball and whether dreams could get hungry, and didn't mention it again.
But Callum noticed — just for a second — that she'd gone somewhere far away behind her eyes.
Somewhere he couldn't follow yet.
